What is a Power team?
Power teams are a group of BNI members sharing same or similar customer base. Power team members meet regularly outside of the chapter, usually once a month or at any other time they agree. The meeting lasts for approximately an hour.
Why?
Power teams provide an opportunity to establish deeper relationships between chapter members with similar business models, attitudes and customers. Because they know each other’s business more intimately than that of other members, they are more confident to refer their customers and acquaintances to someone within the power team than outside.
Sometimes power team members can act as a broker of all the services that are represented in their power team, thus enhancing their business footprint and improving customer service. For instance, an electrician who is involved in a renovation project might recommend reliable plumber, bricklayer, cleaner and other trade professions from their power team, thus helping their customer to find and employ reliable tradesmen.
What happens during the meeting?
The members discuss their business needs, models, opportunities and mishaps in depth, something they do not have an opportunity to do during the weekly 60 sec presentations. Because they share same business segment, they do not need to avoid specialist language that would not be understood by the room in a weekly presentation. Each member takes turn to describe what they are looking for and what have they been doing. The group then discusses how they can help that member, for instance, by introducing to useful people they know or sharing relevant experience and information. There are no strict time limits or pre-set agenda. For example, members may choose to ask for feedback on their weekly presentations and ask for improvement tips.
What power teams are present in the chapter?
In Wokingham, we have active Trades, Business Services and Financial Services power teams. We are looking to build Events and Health and Wellness power teams.
Trades
Our Trades Power Team provides almost every trade you could require. Members of this Power Team include an Electrician, Builder, Plumber, Garage, Cleaner, Lettings agent, Architects.
Financial Services
Our Financial Services Power Team helps businesses with all elements of their finances including planning and execution. Members of this Power Team include a Solicitor, Accountant, Bookkeeper, Mortgage advisor, and Independant financial advisor, Energy Broker.
Business Services
Our Business Services Team consists of experts specialising in services to help businessess improve their day to day running. Members of this Power Team include HR Services, Printer, IT Solutions, Website Design and Marketing, Business Support, Legal Support, Audio Visual, Floristry, Investments, Business Coaching
